Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Q: Do I need a partner to join classes?
A: No! Many of our students come solo. We rotate partners during class so everyone gets to practice with different dancers and improve their leading/following skills.
Q: I have no dance experience. Can I still join?
A: Absolutely! Our beginner classes are designed for people with zero dance experience. Everyone starts somewhere, and we'll guide you step by step.
Q: What should I wear to class?
A: Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. For shoes, smooth-soled shoes work best (dance shoes, dress shoes, or jazz shoes). Avoid rubber-soled sneakers as they can stick to the floor.

Q: What's the difference between salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha cha cha?
A: Each dance has its own rhythm and style. Salsa is energetic and playful, bachata is romantic and sensual, merengue is fun and easy to learn, and cha cha cha is flirty with a distinctive rhythm. We recommend trying them all!
Q: How long does it take to learn?
A: You'll learn basic steps in your first class! Most students feel comfortable social dancing after 6-8 weeks of regular practice. Mastery is a lifelong journey that keeps dancing exciting.
Q: What's included in a class?
A: Each class includes a warm-up, basic step instruction, partner work, turn patterns, and styling. We also teach musicality and cultural context of each dance.
